UNIMAID VC Charges Fire Service Graduates to Uphold Discipline and Professionalism

The Vice-Chancellor, University of Maiduguri, Professor Muhammed Laminu Mele, has charged newly graduated Fire Service personnel to uphold discipline, dedication, professionalism and courage in the discharge of their duties.

The Vice-Chancellor, represented by the University’s Chief Security Officer, Major Mohammed Abiya, Rtd, gave the charge at the 4th Graduation and Passing Out Ceremony of the University of Maiduguri Fire Service.

Major Abiya emphasised the critical role of the Fire Service in protecting lives, property and university facilities from fire outbreaks and other emergencies. He urged the graduates to remain focused and committed, stressing that the protection of lives and property within the University community must remain their highest priority.

He said Fire Service personnel must be prepared to respond promptly whenever an emergency alarm is raised, take decisive action and demonstrate courage and professionalism in safeguarding lives and minimising damage to property. He further encouraged the graduates to remain disciplined and dedicated to continuous learning, noting that their responsibilities require alertness, teamwork and a strong sense of duty.

Earlier, the Chief Fire Officer of the University, Ibrahim Muhammed Kolo, welcomed guests and congratulated the fourth set of personnel on the successful completion of their training.

He highlighted the importance of the training in strengthening the University’s emergency response capacity and appealed to Management to provide additional qualified drivers to support the Fire Service’s 24-hour operations.

He also urged the graduates to remain focused, professional, disciplined, courageous and dedicated as they assume responsibilities for protecting lives and property across the University community.
