The University of Port Harcourt has witnessed a seamless transition as Prof. Iyeopu Minakiri Siminialayi bowed out after a successful tenure as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Development), handing over to Prof. Angela Frank-Briggs.

Prof. Siminialayi, who served from August 19, 2021, to 2025, was celebrated for his contributions in strengthening research, innovation, and development at the institution. His tenure was marked by initiatives that deepened UNIPORT’s research culture and expanded its impact.
In her acceptance remarks, Prof. Angela Frank-Briggs expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and Senate for the confidence reposed in her, pledging to consolidate existing achievements while driving impactful research, innovation-led initiatives, and strategic global partnerships.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Owunari A. Georgewill, commended Prof. Siminialayi for his meritorious service and congratulated Prof. Frank-Briggs on her new role. He expressed confidence that she would further advance the university’s research and development agenda in line with global best practices.
