University of Maiduguri Hosts International Microbiology Conference

The University of Maiduguri recently hosted its first International Conference, themed "Microbial Innovation for Global Food Security and Sustainable Development." The event, tagged "Kanem-Microbes 2025," was held on July 8, 2025, at the Muhammadu Indimi International Conference Centre.

The conference brought together esteemed scholars, stakeholders, and guests to discuss microbial innovation and its applications in food security and sustainable development. Representing the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammed Laminu Mele, was Professor Yakubu Muktar, Provost of the Postgraduate School.

The conference highlighted the department's collaboration with the Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM), demonstrating its growing influence in Nigeria's scientific community.
