The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umob, has taken decisive action against corruption in the admissions process.

A staff member from the Personnel Unit (Students Administration) has been arrested for extorting N400,000 from a prospective student's mother, promising to secure admission for her son into the Faculty of Medicine.

The woman, who made the payment, reported the incident after the suspect, Mr. Nnaji Nnandi Kenneth, stopped responding to her calls. When confronted, Kenneth admitted to the act in the presence of Rev. Fr. Maurice Izuwa, the Chief Safety Officer, Mr. Ken Chukwurah, Chief Legal Officer, and Mr. Njeta Louis, the University's Public Relations Officer.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor reiterated the university's policy on admission, emphasizing that the matter awaits the outcome of the university community committee.
