UNN Secures NUC Approval for 12 New Academic Programmes
The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence 12 new full-time undergraduate programmes from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence 12 new full-time undergraduate programmes from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The new programmes cut across Engineering, Nuclear Science, Health, Education and Information Technology, further expanding the university’s academic offerings in emerging and specialised fields.
The approved programmes are:
• Automotive Engineering
• Nuclear Engineering
• Nuclear Science
• Pharmacology
• Optometry
• Health Care Administration and Hospital Management
• Educational Management
• Cyber Security
• Artificial Intelligence
• Data Science
• Software Engineering
• Information Technology

Commenting on the approval, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya, described the development as an important step towards expanding access to university education and strengthening UNN’s capacity to respond to the needs of a rapidly changing world.
He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing the requisite human and material resources to ensure the successful implementation of the newly approved programmes in line with NUC standards.
