Wellspring University, Edo State, will graduate its first 15 doctoral students and pioneer Public Health graduates at its 14th convocation on October 23.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Isaac Ajayi, disclosed this on Monday at a press conference on the university campus, adding that the institution would also graduate its first set of Public Health students.
Ajayi said the university would graduate 404 students, comprising 292 first-degree holders, 93 postgraduate diploma and master’s degree holders, and 15 doctoral graduates.
He said the graduands had been equipped with intellectual knowledge, entrepreneurial and leadership skills, and strong moral values to enable them to contribute meaningfully to society.
“We shall be graduating our pioneer set of doctoral and Public Health graduates. This is especially significant at a time when public health expertise is increasingly important to the well-being of communities, the prevention of diseases, and the strengthening of healthcare systems,” he said.
Ajayi expressed the expectation that the graduates would apply their knowledge and skills to improving health outcomes and addressing public health challenges in Nigeria and beyond.
He said the university’s achievements reflected its commitment to expanding access to quality higher education and producing graduates capable of responding to society’s needs.
The VC said the institution’s responsibility went beyond awarding degrees to developing well-rounded graduates with entrepreneurial competence, moral discipline, integrity and a sense of responsibility to humanity.

“As we celebrate the 14th convocation, I wish to reaffirm that Wellspring University remains committed to its mantra, ‘Impacting Intellect and Morals.’
“Our institutional emphasis on excellence, innovation and transformation reflects our determination to remain responsive to emerging realities in education, research, technology, enterprise and community development,” he said.
Ajayi added that the university would continue to strengthen its academic programmes, improve teaching and learning, promote research and innovation, deepen professional partnerships and provide an environment for students to develop their potential.
The convocation activities will also include the induction of students into several professional bodies.
