AAU VC Seeks Greater Investment in Education

The Vice-Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Prof. Eunice Omonzejie, has called on the Federal Government, multinational agencies, and stakeholders to increase investment in education to strengthen the global relevance of Nigerian graduates.

Prof. Omonzejie made the appeal while receiving the National Leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by its President, Olushola Oladoja, during a courtesy visit to the university. She noted that Nigeria’s education sector requires urgent reforms across all levels to meet global standards.

She commended Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for his commitment to reviving the university through various interventions, saying his efforts have restored confidence in the institution. The Vice-Chancellor also assured the student body of her administration’s openness and collaboration, adding, “You can be sure that you have a mother in me.”

In his remarks, NANS President Olushola Oladoja praised the state government’s interventions at AAU and lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for introducing the NELFund scheme, a zero-interest educational loan. He urged students to take advantage of the initiative to support their academic pursuits.

The visit highlighted the importance of cooperation among universities, students, and government in improving the quality of education in Nigeria.
