ABU Celebrates World Hausa Day

The Department of African Languages and Cultures at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) marked the 2025 World Hausa Day on August 26, 2025. The event, held at the Postgraduate College Auditorium, brought together Hausa language stakeholders to discuss issues related to the language.

The occasion honored several distinguished personalities who contributed significantly to the Hausa language and community, including the late Sarkin Zazzau, Malam Alu Dansidi, and former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibrahim Garba.

The Sarkin Hausawan Africa, Alhaji A I Koguna, stated that the aim of celebrating World Hausa Day is to honor the culture, language, and traditions of the Hausa people, bringing together speakers globally to commemorate the day.
