ABU Zaria Announces Plans to Increase Admission Quota for Medical Students

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria is set to increase its admission quota for medical students, following the recent approval of ₦4 billion Federal Government intervention for the university's medical complex.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, disclosed this at the 2025 Sponsio Academica for medical students, held at the Abdullahi Mahadi Conference Centre.

The university currently admits 180 students for its medicine program, but receives an overwhelming number of applications, with nearly 3,000 students vying for spots in the MBBS program alone.

This development is expected to address the shortage of medical doctors in Nigeria and further establish ABU as a leading institution for medical education.
