The Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Ebunoluwa Oduwole, has charged newly admitted students to prioritise determination and personal discipline as core drivers of academic and life success.
Oduwole gave the charge on April 15, 2026, during the university’s orientation programme for freshers, where she outlined institutional expectations and behavioural standards required for academic progression.
Addressing the students, she emphasised that individual resolve, rather than course of study alone, ultimately shapes outcomes. She urged the new intakes to commit to hard work, resilience, and strict adherence to university regulations.
The Vice-Chancellor also reinforced the institution’s role in in loco parentis, stressing that while the university provides guidance and structure, students must take responsibility for their actions and development. She encouraged them to demonstrate maturity and avoid unnecessary dependence on parental intervention over minor issues.

Highlighting the broader purpose of university education, Oduwole urged students to fully engage with both academic and character-building processes, noting that the university experience is designed to be transformative.
She further advised the freshers to participate actively in lectures and campus activities, cultivate meaningful peer interactions, and maintain a clear distinction between superficial appearances and real academic priorities.
The orientation programme featured multiple sessions led by faculty and administrators, focusing on academic excellence, personal development, and the expectation that students graduate with both competence and character.
