The Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University, Ebunoluwa Oduwole, has charged academic staff who recently completed specialised training on university rankings to deploy their newly acquired expertise to enhance the institution’s global competitiveness.

The charge was given during a presentation of certificates by participants of the Virtual Institute for Capacity Building in Higher Education (VICBHE) Module 12 programme at the Vice-Chancellor’s office.

Oduwole commended the scholars for participating in the training and emphasised the strategic importance of translating knowledge into measurable institutional outcomes, particularly in improving the university’s standing in global ranking systems.

The training module, titled “Mastering University Rankings for Global Visibility,” focused on critical insights into ranking methodologies, performance indicators, and institutional positioning. It was facilitated under the guidance of Peter Okebukola, a former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission and founder of the Association of Ranking Professionals.

Participants received certificates of membership in the Association of Ranking Professionals, alongside completion certificates for the VICBHE training, signalling their readiness to contribute to data-driven institutional development.

The trained staff include Kehinde Salaudeen, Rebecca Banjo, Olasunmbo Olanipekun, Esther Jatto, Margret Oke, and Oluwafemi Ogunwale, drawn from departments spanning Peace and Conflict Resolution, Library and Information Science, Economics, and Chemical Sciences.

The initiative reflects a growing institutional focus on capacity building and performance benchmarking, as universities increasingly align academic output with global visibility metrics and competitive ranking frameworks.
