UNIABUJA Law Student Wins GIABA Inter-Universities Speech Contest In Sierra Leone
A 500-level law student of the University of Abuja, Amra Onize Salihu, has emerged champion at the Inter-Universities Speech Contest organised by the Intergovernmental Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA).

A 500-level law student of the University of Abuja, Amra Onize Salihu, has emerged champion at the Inter-Universities Speech Contest organised by the Intergovernmental Action Group Against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA).
The regional competition was held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Freetown, Sierra Leone, with participants from several West African countries.
Amra represented Nigeria at the contest after emerging winner of the national selection organised by the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU).
She defeated contestants from The Gambia, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Ghana to secure the regional title.
For her outstanding performance, Amra received the Winner’s Plaque, a Certificate of Honour and a cash prize of $1,000.
The Director of the University of Abuja Law Clinic, Dr Nasiru Mukhtar, who coached the team alongside technical support from Mr J.R. Gogol of the NFIU, expressed pride in the achievement.
“We are very proud of this achievement. The students who represented the Faculty, the University, and the country at large were very committed to winning this contest,” Mukhtar said.
Another 500-level law student, Abah Goodness Ojonoma, attended the competition as an observer.
The University of Abuja commended Amra, the Faculty of Law and Team Nigeria for the remarkable achievement, describing it as a reflection of academic excellence and the quality of training provided by the institution.
