Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, will hold its 433rd inaugural lecture on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, with Professor Ayotunde Titilayo, a Professor of Demography and Social Statistics, scheduled to deliver the address.
The lecture, titled “Reordering Patriarchal Model: That Female Population May Live Safe and Live Well,” will take place at Oduduwa Hall by 5:00 p.m. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, will chair the event.
Inaugural lectures are a longstanding academic tradition in Nigerian universities, providing newly promoted professors with a platform to present their research, academic achievements and scholarly contributions to the university community and the wider public.
OAU’s 433rd inaugural lecture further highlights the institution’s commitment to intellectual engagement and public discourse.

Professor Titilayo’s chosen topic places gender, safety and social structures at the centre of the discussion. The lecture is expected to examine how patriarchal systems influence the lived experiences of women and girls and explore possible pathways towards building a society where women can live safely and enjoy improved well-being.
The event is open to members of the university community and the general public, who are invited to attend the lecture at Oduduwa Hall by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
