UNIBEN Releases Approved Academic Calendar for 2025/2026 Session

The management of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Benin City, has released the approved academic calendar for full-time undergraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.

First Semester (15 Weeks)

• Monday, 10th November 2025: Commencement of online clearance and registration for newly admitted students.
• Sunday, 16th November 2025: Fresh students resume in halls of residence.
• Thursday, 20th November 2025: Course registration begins (6 weeks).
• Monday, 24th November 2025: Lectures commence across all faculties.
• Wednesday, 17th December 2025: Orientation of new students.
• Monday, 22nd December 2025: Christmas break begins.
• Sunday, 4th January 2026: Students return to hostels.
• Monday, 5th January – Friday, 6th March 2026: Continuation of lectures.
• Monday, 9th – Friday, 13th March 2026: Revision week.
• Monday, 16th – Friday, 20th March 2026: Faculty examinations begin.
• Saturday, 21st March 2026: CED examinations.
• Monday, 23rd March – Thursday, 2nd April 2026: Continuation of examinations across faculties, schools, and institutes.
• Thursday, 2nd April 2026: End of first semester and vacation from hostels.

Second Semester (15 Weeks)

• Sunday, 12th April 2026: Students return to hostels.
• Monday, 13th April 2026: Lectures commence.
• Friday, 10th July 2026: End of lectures.
• Monday, 13th – Friday, 17th July 2026: Revision week.
• Monday, 20th – Friday, 24th July 2026: Faculty examinations begin.
• Saturday, 25th July 2026: CED examinations.
• Monday, 27th July – Friday, 7th August 2026: Continuation of examinations.
• Saturday, 8th August 2026: GST examinations.
• Sunday, 9th August 2026: End of academic session and student vacation.
• Monday, 10th – Monday, 24th August 2026: Marking and grading of scripts.
• Monday, 31st August – Monday, 7th September 2026: Departmental boards consider and release provisional results.
• Monday, 7th – Monday, 14th September 2026: Faculty boards of studies review results.
• Monday, 14th – Friday, 18th September 2026: Business Committee of Senate considers results.
• Monday, 21st September 2026: Senate meeting to consider final year results and commencement of registration for the 2026/2027 academic session.
