The Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole, has declared her vision for all ACU journals to attain First Quartile status, underscoring the institution’s commitment to global academic excellence.

Prof. Oduwole made the statement during the ACU Journal Editors’ Workshop, a two-day event organized by the T. Y. Danjuma Library. Addressing editors and academic staff, she emphasized the need to give the university’s journals an international outlook by strengthening editorial boards with reputable scholars.
“The state of a journal is one of those things that makes a department or faculty vibrant; it showcases the faculty,” she said, while warning against predatory and cloned journals. She urged scholars to exercise due diligence in publishing and to avoid scams when applying for conferences.
The Vice-Chancellor also called for a culture of ethical publishing, stressing the importance of building capacity and maintaining integrity in research.
Earlier, University Librarian Dr. Bose Ajiboye outlined her vision of positioning ACU among the best universities nationally and internationally. She highlighted ranking indices such as teaching, research, citation, international outlook, and industry relevance as key areas of focus.

The workshop’s first day concluded with a paper presentation by Mr. Emmanuel Oyadeyi titled “Reinvigorating and Sustaining Editorial Responsibilities of ACU Journals: A Workflow Model.”
