Allegations Against LASUED VC False Says NANS
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lagos State Chapter, has dismissed allegations against the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Professor Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye, calling them false and misleading.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lagos State Chapter, has refuted allegations leveled against the Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Ijanikin, Professor Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye, describing them as false and misleading.
Speaking at a press conference held at the institution, NANS Lagos State Chairman, Abdul-Quadri AbdulRaheem, stated that reports by some media organizations accusing the LASUED administration of irregularities in staff wages, poor welfare conditions, and students being forced to write examinations under pressure were baseless.
According to NANS, an independent investigation into the claims revealed that they were fabricated and aimed at discrediting the university’s leadership. The student body, after verifying the institution's state, subsequently passed a vote of confidence on the Vice-Chancellor and urged the public to disregard the allegations.
“I stand before you today as the Chairman of NANS, Lagos State Chapter, to address the recent allegations leveled against the Vice-Chancellor,” AbdulRaheem said. “The claims published in some media outlets suggesting that LASUED staff are suffering wage irregularities and that students are writing exams under pressure have been thoroughly investigated. Our findings prove that these allegations are completely false and misleading. They are mere attempts to undermine the tremendous progress recorded under the current administration.”
AbdulRaheem further disclosed that a facility tour conducted within the school provided concrete evidence of infrastructural development and significant improvements under the leadership of Prof. Lafiaji-Okuneye. He highlighted several ongoing and completed projects facilitated by external investors, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to excellence.
Among these developments, he noted that HRM Oba Josiah Ikuyamiku, Oloto of Oto, had built a modern lecture facility, while the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, had constructed an ultra-modern e-Library. Additionally, HRM Oba Raji Sulaimon Adesina, Oniba of Iba Kingdom, had designed and built an impressive architectural-style main entrance for the university.
The NANS Chairman added that student leaders across faculties and departments confirmed there were no cases of students writing examinations under duress.
“We urge all stakeholders, including the media, to verify facts before spreading misinformation that could destabilize the progress of an institution committed to academic excellence,” AbdulRaheem emphasized.
