ASUU Issues Fresh Strike Warning, Urges Federal Government to Honour Agreements

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has warned that it may resume an indefinite nationwide strike if the Federal Government fails to meet its outstanding commitments.

Speaking after a zonal meeting in Kano, ASUU Kano Zonal Coordinator Abdulkadir Muhammad decried the slow pace of renegotiations and accused government officials of employing delay tactics and misinformation  .

ASUU has given the government a one‑month ultimatum, which expires soon, urging Nigerians—students, parents, civil society, and traditional leaders—to pressure authorities for swift action   .

The union reiterated its readiness for dialogue but warned that only concrete measures, not promises, can avert another total shutdown of the nation’s university system.
