Augustine University Political Science Students Visit Nigerian Institute of International Affairs for Hands-On Learning in Foreign Policy
Political Science students from Augustine University visited the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) in Lagos on February 7, 2025, for an educational tour aimed at deepening their understanding of Nigeria’s foreign policy and international relations.

Political Science students from Augustine University embarked on an insightful educational tour of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) in Lagos on Friday, February 7, 2025, to enhance their understanding of Nigeria’s foreign policy and international relations.
The visit, organized by the Department of Political Science and International Relations, aimed to provide students with practical exposure to the workings of international diplomacy and policy formulation.
Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly received by Dr. Bolarinwa and Mrs. Ijeoma Aniele on behalf of the Institute’s Director General, Prof. Eghosa Osaghae. During an interactive session, students gained valuable insights into the NIIA’s role in shaping Nigeria’s foreign policy and fostering international relations.
As part of the tour, the students visited the Early Warning System Center, where Dr. Ilesanmi explained the importance of the situation room in monitoring and maintaining national stability. Additionally, the students attended a session with Mr. Yinka Ahmed, a researcher at the Institute, who provided an in-depth analysis of international politics and diplomacy, shedding light on the complexities of global diplomatic relations.
The students were accompanied on the field trip by the Head of Department, Dr. Bode Ladi-Soares, alongside faculty members Dr. Dare Akindoyin and Mr. Akinwunmi Obafemi, as well as a representative from the Public Relations Unit, Miss Joy Innocent.
The educational tour offered students a firsthand experience of international policy mechanisms, reinforcing classroom knowledge with practical exposure to real-world global affairs.
