The move addresses concerns over unscrupulous individuals exploiting the institution’s identity to mislead students and prospective applicants.

  • Total Prohibition: The use of “Bayero University Kano,” “BUK,” or the official University logo on social media is strictly forbidden without written approval from the appropriate authorities.

  • Immediate Removal: Individuals, groups, or associations currently using these identifiers are required to remove them immediately.

  • Personal Accounts: Students and staff may maintain personal social media accounts under their own names but must not imply official representation of the University.

The circular, signed by Professor Mukhtar Ridwanu Bunza, Dean of Student Affairs, emphasized that violators of this directive will face disciplinary action under University regulations and applicable law.

The University stated that the ban aims to protect its integrity and prevent fraudulent activities targeting students and applicants under the guise of official University communication.
