Bishop Oduntan Declares Renewal for New Season Upon ACU
Rt. Rev'd Dr. Olugbenga Oduntan, Bishop of Oyo Anglican Diocese, has prophetically declared Renewal for a new season upon Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo.
Bishop made declaration while delivering exhortation titled Fresh Oil: Renewal for a New Session, at commencement of 3 Days of Fasting and Prayers to Usher in New Academic Session 2026/2027, declared by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole.
The 3 days of fasting and prayers, which commenced on Wednesday, October 7, would run till Friday, October 9, 2026.
Taking his sermon from book of Psalm 92:10, Bishop Oduntan said new academic session demands more than fresh plans, renewed goals and human effort; it requires divine direction, strength and wisdom.
He expressed profound appreciation to Vice-Chancellor for gracious invitation to participate in spiritual exercise, describing initiative as indication that university leadership understands spiritual dimension of securing destiny of institution.
According to him, institutional destinies cannot be secured by academic qualifications and financial resources alone, stressing ultimate security and success of institution can only come from God.
He explained essence of three-day programme is to commit new session into hands of God and ask Him to go with University throughout session.
"If God is not at the centre of what we are doing, there are dimensions that human capacity cannot attain," he stated.
Bishop emphasised every new academic session deserves new encounter with God, describing prayer as acknowledgement of God's sovereignty and essential part of seeking His direction.

He therefore urged members of University community, particularly students, to submit their ways unto Lord, warning them not to depend solely on their own understanding but to acknowledge God in all their ways.
He further encouraged students to ask God for fresh oil, explaining it represents fresh knowledge, strength, wisdom, passion, ideas, creativity, vision, faith and capacity to fulfil their responsibilities.
He added desire for fresh oil must be accompanied by consecration, urging University community to dedicate themselves afresh to God as they begin new session.
First day witnessed prayer sessions and prophetic declarations to guide and protect University Management Team, staff, students and all stakeholders.
Three-day fasting and prayer programme is equally aimed at seeking God's guidance, strength and presence throughout new academic session.
