The Management of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has issued an official circular to address growing misinformation regarding the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) monthly upkeep allowances and the ongoing student loan application process.
The university’s Directorate of Public Affairs, in a statement released on April 1, 2026, provided critical updates for both returning beneficiaries and newly admitted students.

In a move to ensure no student is left behind, the University Registrar has secured a formal extension of the NELFUND application period. The new deadline is now April 15, 2026.
Due to technical challenges on the NELFUND portal, a significant number of 2024/2025 new admits were not successfully uploaded. The University is currently conducting manual uploads to guarantee full coverage for these students.
