COOU Bans Sign-Out Ceremonies, Warns Students of Disciplinary Sanctions

The Senate of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) has approved the prohibition of sign-out ceremonies for final-year students across the institution, warning that disciplinary action will be taken against anyone who violates the directive.

The decision was reached during the university's 149th Senate Meeting held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at the Senate Chamber, following the consideration and adoption of the report of the Committee on Students' Social Regulations.

According to the university management, sign-out ceremonies have been banned because they do not form part of the institution's approved academic calendar and are not recognised as officially sanctioned student activities.
