COOU Scholar Participates in 2026 British Society for Population Studies Conference in UK

Mrs. Victoria Munachi Chidebelu of the Department of Political Science, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), participated in the 2026 Annual Conference of the British Society for Population Studies (BSPS), held at the University of Kent, Canterbury, United Kingdom.

At the conference, Mrs. Chidebelu served as a Co-Convener and Strand Organiser alongside Joe-Harrison of Staffordshire University for the Migration Session.

She also chaired the Family Formation and Refugee Session, which featured five academic presentations, contributing to scholarly discussions on contemporary population, migration and demographic issues.

Mrs. Chidebelu further presented a conference paper as the lead author alongside Dr. Aronu Charles Okechukwu, Somkenechukwu M.G. Ojukwu and Mercy Ezeudemba.

The paper, titled “European Union (EU) Labour Migration Programmes and Brain Drain in Nigeria: The Talent Paradox, 2015–2023,” examined the relationship between European labour migration programmes and the movement of skilled Nigerian professionals.

Her participation and scholarly contributions at the international conference highlight COOU's growing engagement in global academic discourse and its commitment to research addressing contemporary social and developmental challenges.
