Federal Polytechnic Damaturu Matriculates 2,258 Students; Announces Full Accreditation of 36 Programmes

The Federal Polytechnic Damaturu has matriculated 2,258 students for the 2025/2026 academic session. The ceremony was held on Friday at the institution’s renovated mega lecture theatre.

The Rector of the institution, Ibrahim Bello Bashir, who was represented by the Deputy Rector (Administration), Lawan Cheri, urged the newly admitted students to uphold moral integrity, maintain discipline, and remain focused on their academic pursuits.

He emphasized the importance of being socially responsible and morally upright, noting that these values are essential for personal growth and national development.

According to the Rector, the Polytechnic also recorded a significant milestone, having secured accreditation for 36 programmes by the National Board for Technical Education across both National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) levels.

The Rector further called on the students to reciprocate the institution’s efforts in improving infrastructure. 

He highlighted key developments, including the renovation of lecture theatres, construction of access roads, the establishment of an FM station now on transmission with a licence from the National Broadcasting Commission, and the construction of the School of Health Sciences recently inspected by the Nigerian Society of Engineers.

He assured that the Governing Council, Management, and Academic Board remain committed to students’ welfare, encouraging them to be worthy ambassadors of the Polytechnic and contribute positively to society.

Also speaking, the Dean of Students Affairs, Babagana Kachallah, urged the students to be of good behaviour and live responsibly throughout their stay in the institution.

In his vote of thanks, the Registrar, Muazu Aliyu Iliyasu, echoed the Rector’s call on discipline and advised students to treat the students’ information handbook as a constant companion during their academic pursuits.
