The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, played host to the Commander of the Nigerian Army’s 12th Brigade, Brigadier General Kaseem Umar C., and his team during a courtesy visit to the institution.

The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, played host to the Commander of the Nigerian Army’s 12th Brigade, Brigadier General Kaseem Umar C., and his team during a courtesy visit to the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, received the Commander and his officers in the conference room of the College of Health Science, Adankolo. He described the visit as a welcome development that would further strengthen collaboration between the University and the Brigade, particularly in matters of security and community engagement.

Prof. Akinwumi commended Brigadier General Kaseem for his impressive academic record and for showing genuine interest in the growth of the University. He stressed that the relationship between the military and the academic community remains vital in sustaining a safe and peaceful environment for learning.

In his remarks, Brigadier General Kaseem expressed delight at being part of FUL’s activities. He noted that he has attended several inaugural lectures in the past and looks forward to honoring more invitations in the future. He also recalled how the Brigade recently hosted 200-level Sociology students of FUL at its barracks, an initiative he described as part of efforts to strengthen civil-military relations while enriching students’ learning experience.

The highlight of the visit was the Commander’s pledge of continued support to the University. “We are here for you, and we will make sure we give you our best,” Brigadier General Kaseem assured, promising a partnership that will further guarantee a secure and conducive atmosphere on campus.
