Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital Conducts Orientation for New House Officers
The management of the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital (FUTH) has conducted a comprehensive orientation programme for its newly inducted House Officers to streamline their transition into clinical practice.
The session, held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, commenced with a welcome address by the Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (DCMAC) in charge of Training, Dr. Mohammed Ozegya, who underscored the importance of the hospital's standards in medical training.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD), Dr. Hassan Ikrama, delivered the opening remarks, setting a high bar for the new medical professionals. His address focused on several core pillars:
- Mastery of Fundamentals: Dr. Ikrama urged the officers to be diligent in learning the "basics" of clinical practice, noting that a solid foundation is essential as they prepare for future leadership and specialist roles.
- Preparedness for Responsibility: He emphasized that House Officers must be ready to step into "bigger responsibilities" at short notice, highlighting the dynamic and demanding nature of the healthcare environment.
- Performance-Based Rewards: The CMD assured the trainees that the hospital management is committed to recognizing and rewarding excellence for those who meet and exceed institutional expectations.
The orientation serves as a critical onboarding phase, ensuring that the new cohort of doctors aligns with FUTH’s mission of delivering high-quality healthcare and maintaining professional ethics.
