Frederick Foundation Pays Courtesy Visit to UCH Ibadan

The Frederick Foundation, on Tuesday, 29th September 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the management of the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, at the hospital’s boardroom.

The Team Lead and Facilitator of the Foundation, Prof. Godwin Ogbole, said the visit was to formally inform management about the launch of the Foundation, established to support stroke patients in Nigeria and to promote neuroscience education through collaboration between the University of Ibadan and the University of Oxford.

Prof. Ogbole said the objective of the Foundation is to ensure that every stroke patient receives quality care. He added that the visit was also to seek the blessings of the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, and to formally invite the hospital management to the inauguration ceremony.

In her remarks, the Founder and Chairperson of the Foundation, Emeritus Professor Margaret Esiri, said the Foundation was established in memory of her late husband, Prof. Frederick Esiri. She noted that the initiative will provide support for stroke patients, advance research in stroke care and management, and strengthen capacity building in neuroscience.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, warmly welcomed Emeritus Professor Esiri and her team to UCH, which he described as a Centre of Excellence in Neuroscience since 1985.

Prof. Otegbayo reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to supporting initiatives that positively impact capacity building in clinical services, training and research, and wished the Foundation a successful inauguration.
