The event, held on April 1, 2026, was marked by expressions of appreciation from staff, who commended the council leadership for its role in advancing the university’s growth trajectory.
Responding, Audu expressed gratitude to the university community for the recognition and reaffirmed the council’s commitment to prioritising staff welfare and strengthening the institution’s administrative and academic framework.
He also disclosed plans for the university’s relocation to its permanent site at Akwete-Akpa, noting that preparations are underway for its commissioning later in the year, expected to be performed by Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Pro-Chancellor called for sustained cooperation among staff, stressing that collective effort remains critical to achieving the university’s long-term vision of becoming a leading institution in health sciences education.

The development comes amid ongoing reforms under the Vice-Chancellor, Francis Aba Uba, whose administration has been associated with notable progress across key areas of the university’s operations.
