FUL VC Strengthens Staff Welfare as He Unveils 52-Seater Bus Donated by Customs CG Adeniyi

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, has commissioned a 52-seater Yutong Marcopolo bus donated to the University by the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service and alumnus of the University, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.

The commissioning took place on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Senate Building of the University, where the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to staff welfare and strengthening transportation support for members of the University community.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed profound joy and appreciation for the donation, describing CGC Adeniyi as a consistent supporter of the University who has continued to identify with its development needs.

“My heart is full of joy. A friend of the University gave us this vehicle at no cost to the institution,” Professor Ibileye said, recalling that shortly after his appointment as Vice-Chancellor, he told the Customs boss that although he had consistently supported the University, there was still a gap that needed attention.

According to him, the Comptroller General responded to the need in a remarkable way via a WhatsApp message last week, saying, “A driver would call you and deliver a vehicle to your institution.”

“If there is an individual who has been consistently supporting this institution, it is him,” the Vice-Chancellor added, while commending CGC Adeniyi for his generosity and continued commitment to his alma mater.

Professor Ibileye said the donation would strengthen the University’s transportation capacity and further support his administration’s commitment to providing a conducive working environment for staff.

He noted that staff welfare has remained a key priority of his administration, adding that the provision of functional transportation is part of deliberate efforts to improve the welfare and working conditions of staff.

Professor Ibileye further appreciated the University’s distinguished alumni, partners and friends for their contributions to the growth of the institution, stressing that meaningful partnerships remain essential to advancing the University’s development.

Meanwhile, Professor Ibileye’s administration has, since its inception, recorded significant interventions in transportation and staff welfare. These include the provision of official vehicles to Deans of Faculties, with four Faculties benefiting in the first phase. The administration has also procured two Coaster buses through a public-private partnership, while the most recent intervention is the unveiling of 20 electric tricycles to improve transportation within the University campus.
