FUL VC Urges Staff to Embrace Healthy Living, Strengthen Workplace Community

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, has urged staff of the university to make regular exercise and healthy living part of their daily routines, saying the institution’s monthly workout should help establish a lasting culture of wellness.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Gbenga Solomon Ibileye, has urged staff of the university to make regular exercise and healthy living part of their daily routines, saying the institution’s monthly workout should help establish a lasting culture of wellness.

Professor Ibileye gave the charge during the university’s monthly exercise, which he said goes beyond physical fitness to promote friendship, unity and a stronger sense of community among staff.

The Vice-Chancellor encouraged staff to exercise at least once a week while maintaining the monthly group workout as a means of sustaining the culture of physical activity and wellness.

He said the initiative was beneficial to everyone, including himself, stressing that participation was not an act of favour to staff but also beneficial to his own wellbeing.

Professor Ibileye urged staff to see themselves as friends, brothers and sisters rather than merely colleagues, stressing that peaceful and cordial relationships would strengthen the university and improve productivity.

He said the monthly exercise demonstrates community, oneness and the bond among members of the university community.

The Vice-Chancellor also called on staff to take responsibility for keeping the university campus clean by properly disposing of waste and reviving the practice of picking up litter, even when such waste was not dropped by them.

He further urged staff to support efforts to make the university greener through tree planting and improved lawns.

Professor Ibileye expressed confidence that with the cooperation of staff, the university would be able to plant more trees and improve the greenery across its campus.
