FULafia Library Honours Outgoing Librarian, Welcomes Successor

The Ekanem I. Braide Library of the Federal University of Lafia, FULafia, has honoured the outgoing University Librarian, Prof. Abiodun Iyoro, for his exceptional leadership and invaluable contributions to the growth of the institution, while formally welcoming his successor, Prof. Abdulrazaq Baba Abdulrahman.  

The colourful handover and reception ceremony held at the library drew principal officers, members of the FULafia Governing Council, deans, directors, heads of departments, staff, students, family members and friends.  

Highlights of the event included goodwill messages, presentation of gifts to Prof. Iyoro, and prayers for both the outgoing and incoming librarians.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic Affairs, Prof. Ilemona Adofu, described the occasion as “a celebration of excellence, leadership and continuity.”  

He commended Prof. Iyoro for repositioning the University library and ensuring it remained “strengthened and always ready to face accreditation exercises,” while urging the new Librarian to sustain and build on the achievements.

The Registrar of the University, Dr. Nuradeen Abdu, also applauded Prof. Iyoro’s visionary leadership and commitment to staff welfare.  

In his remarks, Prof. Abdulrahman pledged to consolidate on the solid foundation laid by his predecessor and solicited the cooperation of library staff to advance the mandate of the library.  

In his valedictory speech, Prof. Iyoro expressed gratitude to the University Management and staff, attributing his successes to teamwork and collective support.
