The Vice Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja (FUL), Professor Gbenga Ibileye, on Tuesday received a delegation from Research Enterprise Systems (RES), a leading academic consultancy, to formalize a fully funded training programme on Emotional Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for university staff.

Led by Executive Director Professor Fatai Aremu, the RES team also included Dr. Michael Olaogun and Pharm. Silvia Onoja. The programme is offered entirely at no cost to FUL and targets both academic and non-academic staff to bridge the skills gap created by the rapid adoption of AI tools in postgraduate supervision and administration.
Professor Ibileye noted that the partnership with RES dates back to 2021 during his tenure as Provost of the Postgraduate College. He highlighted RES’s commitment to the university, describing their contribution as a “hallmark of human dignity and sacrifice,” emphasizing that the training was initiated without any financial negotiations.
Professor Aremu explained that Emotional Intelligence is a foundational competency for staff, enabling more effective engagement with students and technology-driven academic environments. The programme underscores the importance of a whole-institution approach, ensuring all staff—not just faculty—are equipped to support graduate students and institutional transformation.

The training initiative reflects FUL’s ongoing commitment to staff development and innovation in postgraduate education, further strengthening its collaboration with RES while providing staff with tools to thrive in AI-integrated academic settings.
