FUNAAB Hosts NUC Team to Facilitate FUMMSA's Take-Off
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) recently played host to a high-level Resource Verification meeting organized to facilitate the take-off and accreditation of the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA).
The Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, reaffirmed the university's commitment to supporting FUMMSA, describing it as their "adopted child." He emphasized that FUNAAB would make its human and material resources available to ensure the successful commencement of FUMMSA's academic activities.
The National Universities Commission (NUC) Resource Verification Team conducted a comprehensive inspection of essential academic and non-teaching infrastructure, including libraries, hostels, lecture halls, and laboratories. The team emphasized the importance of institutional preparedness and documentation.
The Vice-Chancellor of FUMMSA, Prof. Fatiu Arogundade, expressed gratitude to FUNAAB for its support and outlined the university's vision. He also introduced key academic personnel and noted that most of FUMMSA's faculty would be adjuncts drawn from established institutions.
The Acting Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Dr. Adekunle Adediran, reiterated the full support of FMC for FUMMSA, referencing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the two institutions.
The resource verification meeting marked a significant milestone in the establishment of FUMMSA, with FUNAAB standing as a strategic partner in this developmental stride for Nigeria's educational and healthcare landscape.
