FUNAAB Librarian Takes Charge as Head of Owolabi University Library
A Librarian at the Nimbe Adedipe Library of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Dr. Fauziyah Adenekan, has been appointed Head of Library at Owolabi University, Oke-Ila Orangun, Osun State.

Dr. Adenekan joined FUNAAB in 2017 as an Assistant System Librarian in the Automation Department. She later served in the e-Library Section, Cataloguing Department, Wole Soyinka Library and the College of Biosciences (COLBIOS) Library at different periods before becoming Head of the Automation Department from September 2025 to September 2026.
Her experience across several library units has given her broad expertise in academic librarianship, particularly in library automation.
Dr. Adenekan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the Institute of Data Processing Management of Nigeria, both obtained in 2008.
She obtained a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Ibadan in 2014, followed by a Master of Philosophy and a PhD in ICT in Information Resources Management from Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, in 2023 and 2025 respectively.
A Certified Librarian with the Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN), Dr. Adenekan was registered in 2016. She is also affiliated with several professional organisations, including the Nigerian Library Association, Nigeria Computer Society, Association of Women Librarians of Nigeria, Nigerian Women in Agricultural Research for Development, African Library and Information Associations and Institutions, International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, Lagos Studies Association, Practical Artificial Intelligence Development Foundation, Wikimedia Nigeria User Group and Royal Statistical Society Nigeria Local Group.

She was inducted into the League of Computer Scientists in Nigeria in 2020.
During her time at FUNAAB, Dr. Adenekan has contributed to teaching, research and academic development through courses including GNS 203: Use of Library, LIS 801: Foundation of Library and Information Studies and LIS 804: Theory and Organisation of Knowledge.
She has also co-supervised Master’s projects and served as Secretary of the Academic Librarians, FUNAAB Chapter, as well as the Association of Women Librarians of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter.
Her research interests cover ICT in Library and Information Science, information user studies, Sustainable Development Goals, gender and cultural diversity. She has 17 publications in reputable journals.
In 2021, she received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Nigerian Library Association, Ogun State Chapter, for her teamwork and commitment to the successful hosting of the first NLA Evidence-Based Virtual Workshop, themed “Remote Information Services Delivery During and Post-COVID”.
Reacting to the appointment, the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, described it as recognition of Dr. Adenekan’s professional competence, dedication and contributions to the Library and Information Science profession.
Prof. Kehinde said her appointment was a source of pride to FUNAAB and reflected the quality of professionals developed by the university. He expressed confidence that she would bring her experience, commitment and innovative approach to her new responsibility at Owolabi University.
The Vice-Chancellor wished her success in the new role and encouraged her to use the opportunity to further demonstrate her leadership capabilities and contribute to the development of Owolabi University.
The appointment represents another milestone in Dr. Adenekan’s career and highlights the professional expertise and experience she gained during her years at FUNAAB.
