The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has partnered with Nutrient Life Group of Companies to relaunch its campus bakery, aiming to provide students and staff with high-quality, locally produced bread and pastries.
The initiative, commissioned by FUNAAB Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Kehinde and other key university officials, is part of a broader public-private partnership designed to enhance food security and sustainability within the university community.
Chief Executive Officer of Nutrient Life Group, Michael Olorode, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to maintaining high production standards and ensuring food accessibility for all members of the university. “This partnership goes beyond just producing bread; it is about ensuring quality, nutrition, and accessibility,” Olorode stated. He emphasized that the company is dedicated to keeping the bakery running efficiently to meet the needs of over 4,000 students residing on campus.
As part of efforts to strengthen the initiative, FUNAAB’s Environmental Unit has introduced new regulations restricting the sale of externally sourced bread within the campus. The university noted that this measure will help maintain quality control and promote sustainability.
The commissioning event was attended by notable figures, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) Prof. Kola Adebayo, Director of FUNAAB Integrated Ventures Olufisayo Amubode, and Deputy Registrar (DVC Development’s Office) Folasade Giwa.
