FUNAAB Pro-Chancellor Commends PR Directorate and Media for Elevating University's Image
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), His Royal Majesty, Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, applauded the University’s Directorate of Public Relations (DPR) and media professionals in Ogun State for their "resilience, creativity, and unwavering commitment" to promoting FUNAAB's image as a beacon of agricultural innovation.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), His Royal Majesty, Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, applauded the University’s Directorate of Public Relations (DPR) and media professionals in Ogun State for their "resilience, creativity, and unwavering commitment" to promoting FUNAAB's image as a beacon of agricultural innovation.

Speaking at a special appreciation dinner, Oba Olabomi, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Land, described the DPR as the "voice and face of the University," noting that their strategic communication has significantly enhanced FUNAAB’s visibility and public trust.
Meeting Expectations: He recalled challenging the University Management to prioritize public relations following the inauguration of the 8th Governing Council in July 2024, and expressed delight that the DPR has lived up to this expectation.
Telling the Story: Oba Olabomi noted that while FUNAAB has been ranked as the Best University of Agriculture in Africa and Seventh in the World, such achievements require effective communication. He is proud that the University's story is now being told "more clearly, creatively, and confidently."
Teamwork: The Pro-Chancellor stated that the University’s growing reputation is a product of teamwork, institutional stability, and a shared culture of diligence, integrity, and innovation.

He specifically lauded the Acting Head of the DPR, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, the FUNAAB Radio Team, and local/national media members for their professionalism.
Vice-Chancellor's Response: Professor Babatunde Kehinde described the Pro-Chancellor’s gesture as inspiring and visionary, reflecting a leadership style that motivates excellence. He reaffirmed Management's support, calling the DPR the "bridge between the University and the public."
FUMMSA Partnership: Prof. Fatiu Arogundade, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA), commended FUNAAB’s Council for extending mentorship and partnership to younger universities, noting that FUMMSA’s early achievements were supported by FUNAAB’s guidance.

DPR Head's Charge: Mr. Olajide expressed deep gratitude and charged his colleagues, in their role as crisis and reputation managers, to always be the ones who proactively seek and propose solutions rather than create or escalate crises.
The event, which was attended by members of the Governing Council, Principal Officers of FUMMSA, and media representatives, concluded with a call to journalists to continue upholding ethical standards while projecting FUNAAB’s achievements.
