FUNAAB VC Commends Participants, Alumni After 2026 Global Convention Marathon

The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has praised participants and organisers of the 2026 Global Convention Marathon Race for what he described as a successful and impactful event promoting unity, wellness, and community engagement within the university.

The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has praised participants and organisers of the 2026 Global Convention Marathon Race for what he described as a successful and impactful event promoting unity, wellness, and community engagement within the university.

Speaking at the conclusion of the marathon, Prof. Kehinde commended the leadership of the university’s Alumni Association for coordinating the event and sustaining alumni-student relations through sporting activities.

He specifically appreciated the Global President of the Alumni Association, Otunba Bolaji Gbadamosi, alongside members of the association’s executive committee for their efforts in organising the race.

According to the vice-chancellor, the marathon served as a valuable platform for strengthening relationships among alumni, students, and stakeholders of the institution while also encouraging healthy living and physical fitness.

Prof. Kehinde also praised participating students for their enthusiasm, discipline, and sportsmanship, describing them as worthy ambassadors of the university.

He further commended the Alumni Association for rewarding all participants, noting that the essence of sports extends beyond competition to include participation, unity, and collective engagement.

The vice-chancellor encouraged members of the university community to embrace regular physical activities and assured that the institution would continue to support sports development through its Directorate of Sports.

In his remarks, Otunba Bolaji Gbadamosi thanked participants and organisers for contributing to the success of the event.

Also speaking, Chairman of the Global Convention Organising Committee, Dr. Oludare Adekoyeni, said the decision to reward every participant reflected the inclusive spirit of the convention.

He explained that the marathon race formed part of broader activities designed to promote networking, wellness, and stronger institutional ties among alumni, students, and stakeholders of Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta.

The event further highlighted the growing role of alumni associations in supporting community-building and extracurricular development within Nigerian universities.
