FUNAAB’s COLFHEC Honours Former Staff for Legacy Contributions to Academic Excellence

The appreciation ceremony, held on April 1, 2026, at the Postgraduate School Auditorium, brought together staff, stakeholders, and dignitaries to celebrate years of service marked by academic excellence, mentorship, and institutional impact.
Among those honoured were former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Bandele Oyewole; former Dean of the College, Prof. Michael Idowu; former Head of the Department of Home Science and Management, Prof. Julia Eni-Olorunda; and former Director of the Directorate of Technologists and Technical Staff, Mr. Abraham Ojo.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, described the occasion as a strategic recognition of individuals whose contributions have left a lasting imprint on the University’s academic and administrative landscape. He noted that their legacies continue to shape the institution and inspire both staff and students.

In her welcome address, the Dean of COLFHEC, Prof. Adebukunola Omemu, emphasised that the strength of any academic institution lies in the dedication and vision of its people. She described the honourees as individuals whose commitment to teaching, research, and institutional development has significantly influenced the College’s progress.
She noted that the College’s current standing, including the quality of its graduates and research output, reflects years of sustained effort by committed professionals who invested in building a strong academic foundation.
Tributes from colleagues and associates highlighted the honourees’ leadership, mentorship, and integrity, with speakers acknowledging their roles in fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration within the College.

The ceremony featured the presentation of the “COLFHEC ICON” Award and other commemorative gifts, formally recognising the honourees’ service and enduring contributions to the institution.
