FUO Governing Council Reappoints Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim as Vice-Chancellor for Second Term

The Governing Council of Fountain University, Osogbo, has unanimously approved the reappointment of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayinka Ramota Karim, FNIFST, FCOFP, FSPSP, FCPA, LFICWLS, for a second and final four-year term.

Professor Karim’s second term will commence on 1 March 2027 and run until 28 February 2031.

The development was announced by the Registrar and Secretary to the Governing Council, Mr Sheriff Adeyemi Adenekan, following the Council’s 67th Meeting held on Monday, 21 September 2026, where the reappointment was approved after careful consideration and deliberation.

According to the Registrar, the decision was taken in recognition of the “unprecedented achievements, breakthroughs and laudable initiatives” recorded under Professor Karim’s leadership during her first tenure.

Presenting the Council’s decision, the Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr AWA Ibraheem, FCA, commended Professor Karim for her doggedness, charisma, humility, perseverance and exceptional leadership acumen.

He described her as an energetic, resourceful and goal-oriented leader who has surpassed the targets set before her at the beginning of her first tenure.

The Council noted that Fountain University has witnessed significant transformation under Professor Karim, who is the first female Vice-Chancellor in the history of the University.

Among the areas highlighted by the Council were massive infrastructure expansion, full accreditation of academic programmes, the introduction of new high-demand programmes, increased student enrolment, expanded global partnerships, improved staff welfare and the deepening of the University’s Islamic identity.

The Council further described the reappointment as a decision aimed at continuity and consolidation, taking into consideration the foundation established during the Vice-Chancellor’s first tenure.

Professor Karim’s renewed mandate is expected to provide an opportunity to consolidate existing achievements while pursuing further institutional growth and development over the next four years.

The Chairman and members of the Governing Council congratulated the Vice-Chancellor and expressed appreciation for her contributions to the advancement of the University.

They also expressed confidence in her ability to continue the work of transforming Fountain University and prayed that Almighty Allah would grant her and her Management team the strength, uncommon favour and wherewithal to lead the University to greater heights.

The decision has also been warmly received by members of the University Senate, who welcomed the reappointment as recognition of the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership and a vote of confidence in the direction of the University.

The Management team equally expressed profound gratitude to the Governing Council for the decision, noting its significance to the continued development of the institution.

The reappointment has generated excitement across the Fountain University community, with staff and other members of the University welcoming the continuation of Professor Karim’s leadership into a second term.

With the renewed mandate taking effect in March 2027, the Vice-Chancellor is expected to build on the achievements of her first tenure and lead the University into another phase of institutional development, with continued attention to academic excellence, infrastructure, partnerships, staff welfare and the University’s mission of integrating faith, knowledge and service.
