FUTA Cybersecurity Team Raises Awareness at Higher Heights High School, Akure
As part of activities marking National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM), staff and students from the Cybersecurity Department of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) paid an advocacy visit to Higher Heights High School, Akure to educate students and staff on cybersecurity risks and best practices.
As part of activities marking National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM), staff and students from the Cybersecurity Department of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) paid an advocacy visit to Higher Heights High School, Akure to educate students and staff on cybersecurity risks and best practices.

During the visit, the FUTA team provided training on how to identify and prevent cyber threats such as phishing, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking, emphasizing the importance of limiting personal information disclosure to avoid potential harm. Participants were also briefed on the rising misuse of Artificial Intelligence to create deceptive online content and were advised to verify all information encountered on the internet.
The trainers further recommended that the school management implement robust digital security measures whenever adopting new technologies and conduct regular cybersecurity training to ensure students remain vigilant and responsible online.
