The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has announced a two-week postponement of the resumption date for the 2025/2026 Academic Session.
According to a statement issued by Dr. Sam Kpenu, Head of Information, Publications, and Public Relations, the decision was taken following a meeting of the Committee of Provosts and Deans held on Friday, October 31, 2025.
The Committee reviewed the earlier resumption date of Monday, November 3, 2025, and resolved to shift it to Monday, November 17, 2025, to allow for the smooth completion of the ongoing admission process and ensure proper preparation for the new academic session.

Dr. Kpenu explained that the adjustment became necessary to guarantee a seamless transition into the new session and to maintain the university’s standards of academic excellence and operational efficiency.
He expressed management’s regret over any inconvenience the postponement might cause students, parents, and guardians, assuring them that the decision was taken in the best interest of the university community.
The University of Port Harcourt, he added, appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all stakeholders as it continues to uphold its commitment to quality education and effective service delivery.
