INTERSOS Donates Drugs Worth About Sixty Thousand Dollars to UMTH, Promises More Partnership to Boost Healthcare Delivery

An independent humanitarian organization based in Italy that provides emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, natural disasters and extreme poverty, INTERSOS, has donated drugs and hospital consumables worth about sixty thousand dollars to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, UMTH, as part of its mission in Nigeria and support to its local partners.

INTERSOS Medical Coordinator, Dr. Aziz Baig, said UMTH is a critical partner considering its importance in healthcare service delivery to the people, stressing that the drugs will help a lot.

Acting Chief Medical Director, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Dr. Abubakar Abiso, commended INTERSOS for the benevolence, assuring that the drugs will be judiciously utilised in the interest of the patients.

Dr. Abiso further reiterated that the synergy between UMTH and INTERSOS will be strengthened in order to improve healthcare service delivery and acknowledged the humanitarian organization's efforts in the wake of Boko Haram insurgency in Borno.

UMTH link person with INTERSOS, Professor Modu Mustapha Gofama, was grateful to INTERSOS for the support, saying such gesture will open more doors for further collaboration.
