FUTA Food Science Graduates Give Back with Solar Panel Donation
On Thursday, 19th December 2025, the 2024/2025 graduating class of the Department of Food Science and Technology (FST) at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) made a notable gesture of gratitude by donating solar panels to their department during a valedictory visit.

The class leader, Moyinoluwa Adepitan, speaking on behalf of her peers, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and lecturers for their unwavering support and guidance, which she said greatly enriched their academic experience. She emphasized that the donation was a way for the graduating students to give back to their Alma mater and honour the mentorship they received.
The Head of Department, Professor Olufunmilayo Omoba, thanked the Vice-Chancellor and the alumni for their presence. She lauded the students for their thoughtful contribution and encouraged them to be proud ambassadors of FUTA as they transition into the next phase of their careers.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sunday Oluyamo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), extended heartfelt gratitude to the lecturers for their dedication and mentorship. He highlighted that the graduates’ initiative exemplifies the values instilled during their time at FUTA, commending the class for their willingness to support the University.
