FUTO Signs MOU with Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden

The Federal University of Technology, Owerri, FUTO, on Friday, August 21, 2026, hosted a delegation from Blekinge Institute of Technology, BTH, Sweden, Blekinge Tekniska Högskola, led by Prof. Adekunle Kayode, Director of Strategic International Collaboration at BTH.

The visit concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, between both institutions.

The agreement provides a framework for staff and student exchange, joint research in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering and Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, and broader institutional collaboration.

Speaking during the event, FUTO management described the partnership as a significant step in the university’s drive to strengthen global academic engagement and expand research opportunities for staff and students.

Officials noted that the collaboration will enable knowledge sharing, capacity building, and joint projects in emerging technology areas, while also enhancing the international profile of both institutions.

The signing marks another milestone in FUTO’s efforts to deepen international partnerships and position the university to contribute to global research and innovation.
