Godfrey Okoye University Launches Center for Experiential Learning and Innovation Mentoring Institute

On 11th December 2025, Godfrey Okoye University (GOUNI), Enugu, officially launched the Center for Experiential Learning and Innovation (CELI) Mentoring Institute, a pioneering initiative aimed at advancing experiential learning across Enugu State’s Smart Green Schools.
The launch, held at the Peter Mbah Auditorium, convened 34 education professionals from schools, government agencies, and international partner institutions. The Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Anieke, was represented by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Sergius Udeh, who formally inaugurated the Institute. He highlighted the transformative potential of experiential learning and reaffirmed the University’s commitment to innovation, research, and learner-centered education, which underpin the success of the state’s 260 Smart Green Schools.
The event featured sessions facilitated by renowned experts, including:
- Dr. Mara Huber – University at Buffalo, USA
- Prof. Ndubueze Mbah – Honourable Commissioner for Education, Enugu State
- Rev. Br. Prof. Gregory Ekene Osuji, FMS – Dean, Faculty of Arts and Education, Godfrey Okoye University
Participants engaged in hands-on activities, peer collaboration, and practical demonstrations designed to deepen their understanding of experiential teaching and mentoring.
The launch also marked the beginning of a weeklong training programme to equip educators for statewide implementation, development of PEARL-aligned projects, and the creation of robust mentoring communities within schools.
Godfrey Okoye University reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with the Ministry of Education and international partners to co-create innovative, evidence-based systems poised to transform education across Enugu State.
