Godfrey Okoye University (GoUni) has made a remarkable mark at the 12th edition of the All Nigerian Universities Debate Championship (ANUDC), hosted by the University of Ilorin from August 24th to 30th, 2025.

Widely regarded as the largest and most competitive intellectual tournament in the country, ANUDC 2025 featured over 200 speakers from leading Nigerian universities. Despite being relatively new to British Parliamentary (BP) debating and public speaking, GoUni’s delegation displayed resilience, skill, and excellence, proving their place among the nation’s best.

GoUni’s Achievements at ANUDC 2025:
- Quiz Team: Azubuike Mary Nkenna, Deborah Febechukwu Ogbonna, and Obialor Agape Love finished 5th nationally after navigating several tough rounds.
- Debate Team: Ogbonna Donald Ugochukwu and Onyia Freda advanced to the quarter-finals, standing strong against some of Nigeria’s most experienced debaters.
- Public Speaking: Favour Egbogu broke into the finals and earned a medal as one of the Top 10 Speakers nationwide.
- Adjudication: Rev. Sister Vivian Onwuka, GoUni’s novice adjudicator, also broke through and gained recognition in the adjudication category — an impressive feat for a first-time judge at such a high-level contest.

This milestone performance cements Godfrey Okoye University’s position as one of Nigeria’s rising intellectual powerhouses. Competing against seasoned universities and still breaking into advanced rounds demonstrates the growing strength of GoUni’s debate, quiz, and public speaking teams.

For the university, this is just the beginning — the foundation of an even brighter future in the intellectual and competitive arena.
