Gombe Approves Fresh Education Funding for BECE and Gombe State University
The Gombe State Government has approved N183.58 million to fund the conduct of the Basic Education Certificate Examination, Mock and Special Entrance Examination across the state.

Gombe State Government has approved N183.58 million for the conduct of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the Mock and Special Entrance Examination across the state.
The approval was announced by the Commissioner for Information, Moses Kyari, following decisions of the State Executive Council.
According to Kyari, N118.72 million was approved for the BECE, while N64.86 million was allocated for the Mock and Special Entrance Examination.
He said the funding was intended to support the effective conduct of the examinations and ensure that eligible students are not disadvantaged by funding or administrative challenges.
The commissioner said the approvals formed part of the state government’s broader efforts to strengthen basic education and support human capital development.
In the tertiary education sector, the government also approved N148.76 million as a consolidated academic tool allowance for academic staff of Gombe State University.
Kyari said the intervention was designed to support lecturers in carrying out their teaching, research and other academic responsibilities.
He added that the latest approval brings the government’s financial provision for the university to N240 million, including previous funding.
The approvals come as the state government continues to increase spending on education, with the latest interventions covering both basic and tertiary education.
Meanwhile, the State Executive Council also approved the relocation of Tudun Hatsi Market to Dukku Road, as part of measures to improve urban planning, traffic management and the organisation of commercial activities.
A total of N200 million was approved for the relocation and associated infrastructure, while an additional N60 million was approved by the local government for compensation.
Kyari said the compensation was intended to cushion the impact of the relocation on affected traders and residents.
He added that the relocation would also help preserve a historical mosque as a state monument while providing a safer and more organised environment for commercial activities.
The latest approvals highlight the state government’s focus on education financing alongside interventions aimed at improving urban infrastructure and commercial activities.
