Gombe State University Delegation Strengthens Ties with Nigeria For Women Programme (NFWP) Scale-Up Project
The Nigeria For Women Programme (NFWP) Scale-Up Project recently received a courtesy visit from a delegation of Gombe State University (GSU), led by the Director of the Centre for Gender Studies, Dr. Aishatu Abubakar Kumo, and the Director of the Directorate of University Advancement, Dr. Adamu Jibir, accompanied by members of their respective teams.
The visit was undertaken as part of efforts to strengthen institutional collaboration and explore mutually beneficial partnerships in the areas of gender inclusion, research, capacity building, and community-focused development initiatives across Gombe State.
During the engagement, both parties held extensive discussions on aligning the University’s academic and research expertise with the community-driven programmes of the NFWP Scale-Up Project, with a view to enhancing women’s empowerment, social inclusion, and sustainable development outcomes. Emphasis was placed on leveraging evidence-based research, advocacy, and capacity development as tools for driving gender-responsive policies and interventions.
The delegation from Gombe State University highlighted the University’s commitment to supporting programmes that promote inclusive growth, particularly those that uplift women and vulnerable groups through education, skills development, and policy-relevant research.
In her response, the Programme Coordinator for the Nigeria For Women Programme (NFWP) Scale-Up Project, Hon. Hauwa Adamu Saraki, welcomed the initiative and expressed readiness to deepen collaboration with the University in advancing shared objectives that translate academic knowledge into practical, community-level impact.
Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to fostering strategic partnerships that will harness research, advocacy, and capacity development for sustainable and inclusive development in Gombe State.
The visit marks a significant step toward strengthening collaboration between Gombe State University and the NFWP Scale-Up Project in promoting gender-responsive development initiatives.
