Governor Sule Meets ASUU, JAC Leadership as Hope Rises for End to Industrial Action at NSUK

There is renewed hope for an early resolution of the ongoing industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and agitation by other university-based unions, following a high-level intervention by the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State and Visitor to Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule.

The Governor, on Thursday, 20th August, 2026, held a fruitful and constructive meeting with the leadership of ASUU and the Joint Action Congress (JAC), comprising the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), at the Government House, Lafia.

The meeting, which focused on finding a lasting solution to the current industrial action and restoring normal academic and administrative activities in the University, signals a significant step towards industrial harmony and the return of students to full academic engagement.

In attendance were the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe; Commissioner for Education, Dr. John D. W. Mamman; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Hajia Khadija Suleiman; Vice-Chancellor, NSUK, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Linkages), K’tso Nghargbu; representative of the Registrar, Hajia Ramatu Ahmed Liman (Esq.); Bursar, Mallam Murtala Abubakar Kana; Special Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor, Mallam Muhammad D. Nasiru; and Ag. Information and Protocol Officer, Jaafar Abdullahi, among other stakeholders.
