Kogi State Polytechnic Appoints Dr. Godwin Ojodomo Onamah as New Deputy Rector

The Governing Council of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, through its Chairman, Barr. Sanni Shaibu, has approved the appointment of Dr. Godwin Ojodomo Onamah as the new Deputy Rector of the institution, pending ratification at the next sitting of the Governing Council.

The appointment brings to the leadership of the Polytechnic an accomplished academic, seasoned administrator, public servant and distinguished professional whose career spans nearly three decades of teaching, institutional administration and public service.

Dr. Onamah holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration and Local Government Administration, an M.Sc. in Public Administration and a B.A. (Hons) in Public Administration.

He has had an extensive academic career at Kogi State Polytechnic, rising from Lecturer III in 1996 to Chief Lecturer in 2010, a position he has occupied to date.

His professional development has also been strengthened by additional certifications in IT Management, Digital Transformation, Cyber Security and Emerging Technology, reflecting his continued commitment to contemporary knowledge and institutional transformation.

Dr. Onamah has held several administrative positions within the Polytechnic. He has served as Head of Department, Public Administration; Dean, Directorate of Students Services; Director, Academic Planning Unit; Member of the Governing Council representing the Academic Board; and Director, Advancement, Support and Linkages.

In these capacities, he has participated in and led various committees responsible for accreditation, strategic planning, academic restructuring, institutional reporting, examination security, curriculum development, business activities and other critical areas of Polytechnic administration.

Beyond the Polytechnic, Dr. Onamah has also served in the public sector as Honourable Commissioner for Works, Kogi State, from 2014 to 2016. He had earlier served with the Civil Service Commission, Lokoja, Kogi State.

His professional credentials include fellowships of the Institute of Industrial Administration of Nigeria, the Institute of Policy Management Development and the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria.

He is also a member of other professional bodies, including the Nigerian Political Science Association and the Nigeria Institute of Management.

A recipient of several institutional, professional and community awards, Dr. Onamah's career reflects a combination of academic advancement, administrative responsibility, professional development and public service.

With his academic background, extensive institutional experience, administrative expertise and public-sector exposure, Dr. Onamah assumes the position of Deputy Rector with substantial knowledge of higher education administration and institutional development.

His appointment is expected to contribute to the continued advancement of Kogi State Polytechnic as he brings his wealth of experience to the institution's leadership.
